The Rangers Guild's citizens are part of a caste system comprised of several
Ranks & Orders (groups) which determine a member's standing. Becoming a member
of a particular Guild Order, or attaining a certain rank is the result of a
member's activity and achievements.
RanksEach member's rank is shown in his/her avatar box just below the name but above the avatar.Adventurer
The backbone of the Guild are those travellers and mercenaries who frequent its
friendly confines to seek respite from the harsh outside world, share in some
fine conversation, and perhaps make a friend or two... Adventurers progress in
rank from Runner (level 1) all the way up to Ranger (level 8). An adventurer's
level is indicated by both a title, and a row
of swords equal to the adventurer's current level.
The rank shown on this "sword bar" is a reflection of a member's posting activity within the Guild forums. The Forums are set up to hold a maximum number of threads, at which point the least active threads are deleted as new ones are posted. As posts are deleted, they are deducted from the appropriate members' post count. Therefore, there is a finite number of posts in the forums, which means even if you achieve the top rank of Ranger, inactivity can lead to a reduction in your rank as your posts are eventually pruned. The required number of posts for each rank will be balanced against the number of members and posts in the forums to always keep a nice cross section of ranks, truly reflecting each user's relative level of forum activity. Champion
The rank of Champion is given to any who are the current reigning winner of an
Official Guild Tournament, such as our Art or Writing Tournaments. The rank will
reflect the area in which the victory was won, and the winner will automatically
be granted membership into the appropriate Order. Thus the winner of a Writing
Tournament will have the rank of "Scribe Champion" and become a member of the
Guild Order of Scribes (if not already a member).
Council Member
Each of the Guild Orders elects a representative to be on The Guildmaster's
High Council. Council Members meet with the Guildmaster and his Archons in
the High Council Chamber to give feedback and input on various matters. Members
will sometimes be asked to cast votes regarding various matters, such as
determining which works should be admitted into the Guild Museum. If you hold this
rank you are special indeed.
Court Jester
If you are found to be particularly annoying or obnoxious, you may be given
the rank of Court Jester. This means you've probably been ignoring Guild Rules of Conduct and warnings to
behave. If you get this rank you're one step away from being banned, so take it
very seriously as your last warning and shape up.
Outcast
If you receive this rank you won't be around to see it. It means you've been
cast out of the Guild; an exile barred from returning to its glorious halls. To
get banned indicates you have disregarded the Guild's rules repeatedly without
remorse.
Mage (Moderator)
Powerful spellcasters who form the security backbone of the Guild. Those Mages who roam its chambers keeping
order and helping members in need are some of our finest and most trusted
members. They have sworn an oath to uphold the honor of both the Guild and the Guildmaster
himself, and to use their considerable magic powers for the good of all.
Archon (Lead Mod)
The personal advisors to the Guildmaster, SecretInfluence and Valkyrie are also
the commanders of the Guild's security forces. The Guild Archons are firm yet
fair, defending the Guild at any cost, but welcoming any who would join our
community with a smile and friendly conversation. Their powers exceed even that
of the Mages themselves.
Guildmaster (Admin)
The benevolent leader of the Rangers Guild, Lord Cryofax, with the power to
change the very fabric of reality itself. His word is law, but he always tries
to treat the citizens of the Guild fairly with open ears and an open mind.
