"People who choose to be so. You didn't choose, so you can't be a monster." She said.
"It's them that look deep into the darkness of themselves, and keep going. Ain't your fault, if you never asked to be like y'are."

"You're not going to hurt me. They might. Like they hurt Fedave, and Ontielle."

Vrael looked blankly at the child.
"You have a good way of looking at the world, I can tell you're going to be a good woman when you grow up, with strong virtues."
Vrael unbuckle his sword, it was getting uncomfortable around his back, taking it off he laid it beside him.
"Who is..were Fedave and Ontielle?"

Bralin looked with some interest at his sword.
"Fedave was my sister. Turin tortured her to get someone's attention. Malikai killed her. Ontielle was our scout. Sneaky. Baron's got her now. Not sure for how long though."
"'tis a nice blade." She said at last.

Simon glanced back at the two as they slowed down and fell behind him. He didn't really know nor care what they were talking about, yet dusk was coming and they needed to reach the camp.

"Captain, Cladius, get up here. We are going to ride hard till we reach the camp, that'll eliminate about 30 good minutes. Lets go!" he said in a rather loud tone.

Simon rode hard on his white stallion in steel plated armor. The horse was tough and could most certainly make the ride. They'll need to rest once they reach the camp though, if the soldiers are still there.

"I see...I'm sorry for your loss."
Vrael picked up the sowrd and laid it on his lap.
"Aye, it is indeed a very nice sword, a very old one too, you shouldn't be interested in swords though."

Bralin looked sternly at Vrael. "Fedave was my natural sister, but we weren't all that similar."
"Why not? Ontielle likes bows, Aralin likes prayers, I like swords. You do too, else you wouldn't have that."

"I have that" Vrael said, looking at the child and back at his sword "to protect myself, the world is uneasy and it's not safe for an old man like myself."
Perhaps when your older you'll get a sword, but I would plead with you to keep them away from your life right now."

"I only carry a dagger right now. Night says I can't have a longsword until I can wrestle her to the ground. Ain't that strong yet. Gettin' there though." She looked at him critically.
"You ain't all that old."

Nirano continued to listen to the Messenger's "message". The Baron was more involved than Nirano knew. It seemd he wasn't rid of that beast just yet. When Izhani had finished speaking with the Messenger, Nirano turned to Vrael, who was speaking to one of the younger Dunmer girls.

"Vrael we must leave now. Things are more dire than I first thought. Can you please step outside and tell everyone we will depart as soon as possible?"

Nirano asked Vrael. He wished he could step outside himself, but the sun would chew away at him like termites at wood.

The Dunmer girl looked at the vampire who had spoken.
"Things are as dire as they ever were. Why do you need to leave now? We've lasted this long. Izhani's not going to let anything happen to us. That's why the Baron's man is to think that we've got Ladaia here."

Nirano turned to the little girl. She was a curious one.

"We need to leave now because The Baron is deeply involved in my affairs and in yours. If we don't make sure we are always quicker and faster and wittier than The Baron, then I am afraid we will all die by his hands."

He did not want to be so direct and grim, but this girl seemed to settle for nothing but the absolute truth. He liked that trait.

"Izhani just told the Messenger that Ladaia is somewhere in the woods, which she is. The Baron is a clever monster, and he has Ontielle. He may know more information than we want him to, and for that reason we must be quicker than him, so we may lure him into a trap if possible. We would not otherwise be able to defeat him. He is too well guarded, and has too much influence. We have to be sneaky and silent."

The Brotherhood messenger tipped his hat to Izhani...

"I shall deliver your message..." he said as he turned and walked into the woods.

---

Breakfast was finished at the Brotherhood base in Corinth. A Brotherhood disciple walked into the dining room and handed the Baron a note. The Baron waved the man away and opened it... He looked up at Ontielle...

"You have spoken the truth to me, child. For that I thank you. Your mistress does in fact have a manor here in Corinth, though it appears unoccupied at this time. I have a man communicating with Izhani as we speak... We should have this whole thing resolved soon..."

Ontielle, upon hearing the comforting pronouncement of the Baron, said,
"I am very glad to hear that, your Excellency."

~

"That went well." Izhani said, smiling slightly, as she turned to Night. The Nord looked a little worried.

"The Baron's a monster, you know that." Night said, folding her arms.

"So are many such men of power." The Dunmer woman said, patting Night's arm. "But that alone is no reason to keep from him his daughter. Now, we must wait for nightfall." She walked passed the Nord woman, and moved towards the carriage.

"What's at nightfall?" Night said, following her mistress with her eyes, and then her body.

"Lack of sunlight." Izhani said, as she got into the carriage. Closing the door, she turned to Bralin.
"Ah, there you are. I need you to send a message. Go to the Fog Moss cave, and wait until nightfall. Speak with the Lady. Tell her...that we're giving back the girl. Remind Lady Aundae that she gave the girl to me to ensure a respectable education, and that I've done so. Turin is confirmed, and not dead. Shadowmere would not so easily abandon its master. Then, go to Greylands. If you are followed by the Brotherhood, swallow this." She rummaged in her bag and handed the Dunmer girl a small brown vial. "If you cannot identify the person following you, or something else goes wrong. Do not go to Greylands...but head back to us. Making it look like you got lost."

Bralin nodded, and Izhani proclaimed her a good girl, and kissed her forehead. Handing the girl a silver shortsword, she wished her well, and the girl snuck out from under the carriage, and slipped off into the forest.
Whereupon Izhani looked at her other guests.

"You look like you're in quite the state, Nirano. Do you need blood?"

Nirano watched the Dunmer leave. That vial was certainly poison.

"No, no, I have not required blood for many years. When a Vampire conquers his primal instincts he no longer requires it very often. I had 400 years to do so, and now that I have I am no longer in need. I do however wish we could leave for Corinth now. Waiting is something I am not accustomed to, and time is something we require very much."

Nirano paused.

"You've sent that young girl to her death."
