The Rangers Guild website will be taken offline temporarily for an unknown length of time today as part of the updates in the work behind the scenes. Don't panic, we'll be back!

You might see some oddities for the next few hours while I introduce some new back-end infrastructure to the Guild to lay the groundwork for some major new additions. Feel free to carry on as normal. A few pages might look ugly for a bit but everything should be functional. Thanks!

The servers the Guild runs on have undergone a nice upgrade to newer and better software. The chat room did not like this upgrade, however, so I'm being forced to reinstall it tonight.

Chat room(s) successfully reinstalled and working...

Removed the size restriction on the chat room, so you can now resize the chat window to whatever size you like without it snapping back to the default. Also made the default itself (when it first loads) slightly bigger.

Looks like my web host did a major migration to some new server space, which had the Guild offline for an hour or two today. But all seems to be finished and there should be no further service outages. Thanks for the patience.

There appears to be an annoying bug with the chatroom that has, for some reason, become much more prominent recently than it used to be. I believe it's related to changes with our webhost that broke our "Who's in the Chatroom?" list on the Guild Visitors page.

Anyway, the bug: Many times someone logs out of the chat room and leaves it completely empty, that user is incorrectly displayed as being in the chat room to the next person who logs in. The person who enters can't tell the difference and will likely attempt to speak to the person - who isn't actually in the chat room at all - and is probably wondering why they're being ignored. =P

We apologize for this nuisance bug, but until we get a new chat room, there's two ways you can check if the person is actually logged in or not. Use whichever suits you best.

Method #1: Log out and back into the chat quickly. If the person is still there, then you know they're actually logged in.

Method #2: Type "/names" (without the quotes) into the chat box. It will return a list of who's online in which rooms. If you don't see the user in that list and only see your own user name, then you know the person isn't actually there.
