Post subject: The Darkness: Chapter 8 (RP)
Rules

The Game Master
1.) This RP has a GM (Game Master) who will guide and mold the RP as it unfolds.
2.) All players are welcome to introduce and expand on story elements as desired.
3.) On rare occasions the GM may make alterations to actions taken in the interest of the overall plot.

Players and NPCs
1.) The GM will control NPCs (Non Player Characters), except those specifically meant for players to control (certain bodyguards, pets etc).
2.) GM controlled NPCs may be killed by the GM at any time.
3.) Players may kill their own character or NPCs at any time.
4.) The GM and players may not drastically alter, injure, or kill Players and NPCs controlled by someone else without prior approval from that person.
5.) No one may RP for another person unless they have been given that players permission.

Player/NPC Power
1.) No uber characters. Your character may be the center of the universe in his own world, but here he or she is part of an ensemble cast made up of powerful beings who can all give each other a run for their money.
2.) No flying, levitating, teleporting (including mark & recall, devine intervention) or telepathy. These powers are wildly unbalancing in an RP.
3.) No items or weapons that make your character unreasonably powerful.
4.) GM controlled NPCs are not restricted to these rules if it is necessary to the plot.

The Story

Nirano has been living his entire live in Morrowind, his home city being Balmora. One day he receives a message from a Werewolf Clan, called the Bleeding Fangs. They have taken Nirano’s brother, Aether and are holding him hostage at their home in Summerset Isle, at Cloudrest. Their demands are that Nirano give up his leadership of the Vampiric Clan, Moon Stalkers. Nirano replies that if he makes it to Clourest, and kills the leader of the Bleeding Fangs, that they must release his brother. The leader replied once again, answering yes, so Nirano now will head out for Clourest, first needing to catch a boat from Balmora to Cyrodiil.

The Players

This is where YOU come in. Anybody may join at any time. Make sure you read the RP in it's entirety before you enter. Then find an interesting angle and come on in!

You must declare basic information before entering the story however. This is the format:

Name:

Race:

Class:

Age:

Clothing:

Weapon:

Other: (i.e. Pets, NPCs)

The Map
(With route being taken from Morrowind to The Summerset Isles, and current group locations)

Status Update:

Thankfully, most everyone (except Daedra Lord and a few miscellaneous NPCs) are in the same area now...)

The arrival of several newcomers to the main group has been a cause for some friction, and yet more delays for Nirano and his band of adventurers.

As the Baron and his men watch over the camp, he is contacted by strangers informing him he has a daughter, the product of his union with an unwilling bride. Just how these new strangers fit in with the mysterious Dunmer Izhani and her caravan is still unknown, but they seem to be seeking information about the mystical assassin Turin, and the Baron is one of few living people to have worked with the psychopathic legend. Izhani has hidden away the Baron's daughter while fooling the group into thinking she was kidnapped by Turin himself.

General Sanier finally arrived at the camp to find Captain Julius and his men. He intends to take the Captain back to answer for his lost unit before the proper authorities in the Imperial City.

Jenn confessed to Nirano she is being blackmailed by someone "who has her family". Before details could come forth she and Nirano were separated as Nirano looked for the kidnapped girl and Jenn left to find Reyvan. Jenn's love for Reyvan has been put to the test by the arrival of Octavian, the enigmatic knight who recently joined the group in search of his dead sister Elana.

Reyvan attempted to take the life of Nirano, his old friend, for unknown reasons. He was subdued and taken away by Izhani but was discovered by Jenn and freed.

Jenn held Reyvan's head on her shoulder... She cradled his face in her hands and wept as she looked into his eyes... "What did they do to you, my love?" she spoke as her voice trembled.

Upon hearing Izhani's words her eyes filled with fire...

"We've had enough of your help! Everything was fine before you arrived! Why don't you just leave us alone!"

She looked back at Reyvan...

"We must speak... "

She took his hand and led him into the forest...

---

Captain Julius Maximus nodded at Izhani while doing his best to ignore Soronim.

"Claudius, please... This isn't helping anyone... My apologies madame." he said to Izhani.

"General", Captain Maximus continued, "If you could but hear me out... There is more here than meets the eye. You MUST let me stay here and finish what I started..."

At that moment thunderous hoofbeats were heard from up the road... Out of the darkness Malikai the Paladin strode into the group atop his massive white warhorse. In one swift motion he leapt from his horse and was at the General's side...

"General..." he said in an uncharacteristically loud tone "I'm sorry for leaving you on such short notice... There was an attempt on the life of my father, Senator Shalkolen. I arrived just in time to thwart the attack. It was the assassin Turin who was behind the attempt. I believe there were others involved as well. The coward fled when I confronted him in the Senatorial chambers..."

He continued...

"There were witnesses who saw someone fitting his description engaged in combat on Talos Bridge against a Nord Ranger. They say Turin was struck and fell into the river, but no body has been found. Both he and this Ranger have disappeared without a trace..."

His eyes held the General's...

"I won't be able to stay here much longer... But my father has asked you to stay and investigate this matter. I know you two have had your difficulties General, but please. As a personal favor to me. This is one of the last groups of people to encounter Turin. Perhaps they can help track him down."

Night frowned at this, and glanced about, though she noted that the girls who had reported the stranger in the woods were conspicuously absent.

"I beg your pardon, my lords. But, do I hear correctly, that Turin, Beloved of Sithis, Wielder of Swornfire, is real?" She said, after stepping down from the wagon, and bowing to the Paladin.

Elsewhere, Izhani was smiling in a rather bemused manner at the retreating backs of the two lovers. It was only once they had retreated into the woods, quite the active things this time of year, that she noticed in the cold pit of her heart that another beacon of light was present. Izhani felt it was ample time to return to her carriage.

Sornim continued to grin at Julius as the Paladin galloped up and delivered his message. At the mention of the name Turin, though, he nearly laughed aloud; it was such an obvious farce. Deciding that this was far too infantile to be funny, he trooped his way over to the caravan that had seemed to be causing such a hullabaloo. Noticing a Dunmer woman moving towards it, he passed by a Noric female going to talk with the officers. He decided that he would be polite and approach the Mer.

"Madam," he called, summoning as much sarcasm as he could into that one word, yet still grinning, "good evening to you! Are you heading off now? I would imagine that you wouldn't want to lose that girl heading off with the knight."

"Is he real?! IS HE REAL?!" Claudius screamed at Night, "He bloody single handedly DESTROYED OUR MILITARY UNIT! FOR THE LOVE OF THE NINE! IS HE REAL?!?!"

Captain Maximus' head dropped to his chest. There was no sugar-coating it now for the General... He stood in front of Claudius and spoke...

"We believe... We believe this Turin, perhaps with the aid of the Righteous Brotherhood, is responsible for decimating my unit, General... He butchered my brother Ezekiel in his tent... And he framed this group for the crime. We pursued. He had set a trap for us... All men were lost but nine of us. I sent six back to the city to get help. I assume they are the ones who brought you here..."

He looked back at Lucius and Claudius...

"These two and I joined with the group to try and find him. They are headed to Cloudrest. I thought if Turin should show his face again we could capture him and avenge my men... I cannot return like this, General... Please... Let me avenge my men and restore my honor!"

Malikai walked over to Night, stepping between her and Claudius.

"My lady" he said, his grey eyes penetrating into her very soul. She found herself transfixed...

"There is the Turin of legend; of fairytales... And there is this assassin who has simply taken his name. The two are not the same. So yes, Turin DOES exist, but not in the way you are implying."

He bowed his head slightly, never taking his eyes off of hers...

---

"Is that Malikai Darktower down there?!" the Baron said, almost flustered...

"Who is to join their group now? The Emperor himself!?"

Izhani returned his smile, and said, as politely,
"Indeed not sir, for some knights still have honour." Nodding as politely, she turned and went into her carriage, closing the door behind her.

Far off, down the road, the girl in question's forehead furled a little.
"I'm not sure." She said, enjoying having someone to talk with. "I think I was born in Morrowind, but the only home I really know is Izhani's. Night took care of us though. She always remembered our birthdays, even those of us who didn't have one...she'd give us one. I think Fedave's the only one who had a real birthday, and a family at home. I think she's Redoran..." Ontielle blushed.
"Oh, I'm sorry, that was supposed to be a secret." She giggled. "You won't tell, will you?"

Meanwhile, Night began to be worried. It was no laughing matter when the Paladin, said that such dark legends were true. Furthermore, she was wondering exactly how much more barbing her mistress could take. She rather hoped this would not result in a scene, as she doubted her own abilities with such a group.

OOC: Crap, I thought Lucius was Julius. Cryo, vary the endings of your names for heaven's sake! Cool
Anyways, I'm going to bed; the CAHSEE is tommorrow! Just string me along (if ya'll actually go anywhere, that is).

Sornim Mitelle did laugh aloud as the Dunmer delivered a quick and witty response. Yet his sudden glee fled just as quickly when he heard the yells of Claudius. His old comrade was not one to be easily shaken, when sober. Now with only a thoughtful smile on his lips, rather than his usual death's head grin, Sornim wandered into the shadow of one of the wagons. All of this inactivity and talk made him nervous; he would try and watch, to see what would happen next, before making his next move.

Night, whose soul had nothing to hide from such a gaze, returned the Paladin's stare.
"I understand." She said, betraying more to him than she realized, and understanding more than she did. "Is your father well?" She asked, both feeling the need to speak, and out of genuine curiosity.

Izhani lay back in the cool of her carriage, she enjoyed the darkness. Hearing a small sound outside, she opened the door. Fedave snuck in, and curled up next to her. Izhani closed the door, and let no one see her as she slipped her arm around the sleeping Redoran girl.

"Hold your tongue Cladius! I am well aware of this Turin person and yet this Ranger seems unfamiliar. Simon then turned over to Malikai.

"Malikai, you may leave to aid your father, we may have to stay here after all."

Simon then slowly turned his gaze to Maximus.

"Avenge, soldier, is not the legion way nor the Empire. Guilds and assassins give revenge but not the legion! We will always be on the look-out for filthy dogs like this Turin character is. How many are apart of this group anyway? I wish to be on full scale alert on who is amongst us."

Night in a burst of sense, held her tongue and listened to the conversations of the soldiers. She found them fascinating, but realized very early on that such a life could not be her's.

Off in the carriage, Izhani touched her lips to the forehead of the sleeping girl, realizing what she had refound after all these years. Some part of her wondered whether she wanted to keep it. Her dark eyes looked over at the long dark box. Those long hands that had felt the deaths of so many, stroked the living cheek of the sleeping child, and the woman sighed.

"Forgive me sir." Captain Maximus said to the General, "I let my emotions get the better of me. It shall not happen again."

Julius glanced around the area then back at the General...

"There are some newcomers among us now, sir... Getting an exact head count has been quite difficult of late. I assure you this group is teeming with fine able bodied warriors... Perhaps when we are on the road and travelling forward we can get a better idea of who is with us... The group's leader is a vampire named Nirano... He seems to have disappeared..."

Before Night even knew was was happening she felt Malikai's hand stroke the side of her face...

"Your will is strong..." is all he said as he backed away and stood over by the General and the Captain.

"I can stay a while longer. My father is safe, General." as he said this he glanced over at Night.

---

In the forest, Jenn sat Reyvan down and spoke to him, only inches from his face in a whisper...

"I was afraid they'd kill you, Reyvan..." she said, her lips trembling...

"They promised to let you live when the rest are destroyed... if I cooperated... I thought... I thought if I broke this off... Maybe you would run away... far away and be safe... But I couldn't do it... I ... could not deny the only thing that gives me reason to live..."

As she said this she pressed her lips hard into his.

"Nirano, Jenn, and Reyvan were last seen in the woods, or heading there. Our scout, Ontielle would know more. She is ahead with Octavian, the knight. In the carriage are Izhani, my mistress" Night glanced back to confirm. "And Fedave, our youngest girl. Aralin, Tilenu, and Bralin sit in the wagon. Yonder soldier who spoke ill towards my mistress cowers beside the wagon. The rest of our group stands before you."
Night said,
"unless you have others in the wood, I count eighteen, not including Malikai the Paladin."

Reyvan gently pushed her back after a while, and started talking.

"They? Who are they?" He asked, softly, holding her hand.

Laughing, Octavian shook his head.

"No, milady. If you wish for those words to be kept a secret, they shall not be spoken. However, it is quite kind of your mistress to have taken all of you into her care. It is also slightly odd. Is there something being hidden to us, per chance?"

He looked up at the yound dunmer girl and smiled. He enjoyed her company. After all these long years of travelling, he had forgotten of the pleasures of friendship and comrades.

Nirano scolded himself for not being more cautious. He was so intent on finding the Dunmer girl he had let all of his other precautions fall. He stopped slowly and without turning around spoke:

"My loyalties have not changed, and neither do I intend to do so in my life. Yet, if you speak of me as young, you yourself must be very old, and wise. Where is the girl? I saw her run in the forest and I intend to bring her back."
